DAOfood Plus is a food supplement for special medical uses that is used as an aid in the dietary control of DAO deficiency and/or Histamine Intolerance and their associated pathologies.
The diamine oxidase (DAO) it contains complements the body's own enzyme responsible for metabolizing histamine.
Taking one capsule before each meal increases the amount of DAO in the small intestine and therefore the ability to break down histamine. This speeds up the processing of histamine in food in the digestive tract, which is what triggers symptoms.
They are gastro-resistant tablets with controlled release DAO in the intestine that avoid the acidic pH of the stomach and tablets that guarantee the immediate release of adjuvant active ingredients.
Each capsule contains:
2 white/beige gastro-resistant tablets with intestinal release DAO.
1 orange immediate-release vitamin C tablet.*
1 yellow immediate-release quercetin tablet.*
*If you cannot take quercetin or vitamin C, you can open the capsule and remove the yellow and/or orange tablet.
What is DAO deficiency and what effects does it cause?
This is a deficiency in the activity of the metabolizing enzyme DiAminoOxidase (DAO) or when there is an unbalanced proportion between the histamine ingested with food and the ability to metabolize it by said enzyme.
As a consequence, histamine is not sufficiently metabolized or degraded, passing into the bloodstream and triggering a series of symptoms.
The usual reactions when there is a DAO deficiency are migraines and other headaches, but others may occur such as:
- Digestive discomfort, such as a feeling of bloating, gas, constipation or diarrhea.
- Muscular and osteopathic discomfort and contractures.
- Skin disorders, such as dry or atopic skin.
